FINia authorisation process for portfolio managers and trustees

Status quo

The Financial Institutions Act (FinIA) came into force on 1 January 2020 with the aim of ensuring a uniform supervision of all financial services providers that are active in the portfolio management sector. Art. 2 FinIA lists the group of financial institutions which are subject to supervision or authorisation and those which are not subject to FinIA. In case of business models requiring authorisation (in concrete terms: portfolio managers and trustees), a multi-stage process must be carried out.
